Plastic Drastic

Direction: Dr. Eric Mayer-Garcia
Costume Design: Kain Gill
When a tidal wave of garbage levels their home, a young boy and girl must go searching for their missing parents. Along the way, they encounter the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, an iceberg, schools of jellyfish, and an ominous albatross.
This production toured to local elementary and middle schools to educate children on the importance of recycling and environmentalism. As such, all set pieces needed to fold, collapse, or otherwise be able to travel with ease. In keeping with the message of the show, pieces were created by collecting plastic from the local community as well as using old or otherwise unusable pieces from the scene shop.
